Group Format

Together we’ll watch pre-recorded lectures from the Catholic Biblical School’s The Bible Course and engage in group discussion and prayer. Dr. Tamra Fromm, who provides the video-lectures will be at St. Christopher on Sept 10th at both morning Masses to answer questions during Coffee & Donuts.

What We’ll Cover in 2023-24

We begin our journey through the Bible by tracing the story of Israel–the People of God–through the historical books of the Old Testament. Jesus’ earthly ministry flowed forth from this Old Testament context. Through these books we discover that the Old Testament is not merely history, but indeed our story. We’ll meet weekly from mid-Sept to mid-May with breaks during holidays and the summer. It’s okay to miss a week because you can still access the recorded lecture at home.

Time and Place

Location: St. Christopher

Two Time Choices:

Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 pm

Thursdays 10 am to Noon (following morning Mass)

Preparing at Home

We recommend setting aside 2-3 hours a week (just 20-30 min a day!) for reading the assigned Scriptures. Reading the Bible at home can be part of your ordinary prayer life. We encourage participants to listen for the Holy Spirit and stop to dwell on passages where God speaks to you. We draw from the riches of the Church in praying together, using Scripture, during class. There are no tests, quizzes, or grades–our purpose is discipleship.

Parish Facilitator: Patty Klecha

Patty Klecha has completed The Bible Course from the Catholic Biblical School of Michigan, twice! She has led Bible studies and groups for decades in the Marysville area and has a passion for helping connect people to one another, God’s Word, and our Lord, Jesus the Messiah. To find out more about the group, contact Patty at patty@cbsmich.org. We anticipate having a daytime group and an evening group and are selecting day/time based on interest and parish facility availability.
