Cathryn Torgerson

Cathryn Torgerson fell in love with Scripture when working on her Master’s Degree in Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. After graduation, she taught theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary as an Adjunct Professor and became a founding member of the Catholic Biblical School of Michigan faculty.  A year later, she left her corporate job to teach full time for CBSM and has now taught all four years of the program multiple times.

Cathryn continues to teach while also serving as the CBSM Director of Curriculum. In this role she develops and coordinates the faculty support files and the CBSM workbooks. As a consequence of her teaching and curriculum work, she has also outlined the entire Bible. She has a passion for helping people meet God through His Word and falling in love with their Catholic Faith.

Cathryn’s favorite Scripture is John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”

Outside of CBSM, Cathryn spent several years volunteering with youth ministry, but now she focuses on adult faith formation.  You can find her giving presentations for Advent teas, conferences, and general adult faith formation events, as well as leading retreats based on Scripture.  Cathryn wrote a monthly column on the Sunday Gospels for Catechist magazine, and she is a contributor to the Living the Word Catholic Women’s Bible from Ave Maria Press. She enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, photography, and drinking a delicious cup of coffee or tea.

Fun fact: Cathryn used to work backstage in theatre!
