Dr. Chris Gawel

Dr. Christopher Gawel completed the Doctor of Ministry program at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, focusing on evangelization and passing on the faith to Gen Z. Christopher holds Masters and Bachelors degrees from Sacred Heart Major Seminary.

As an instructor with the Catholic Biblical School, Christopher seeks to create an environment where we can encounter Jesus in His Word and grow as His disciples. Having had a profound encounter with Jesus while preparing for his Confirmation, Christopher discovered his life’s mission is to help others encounter Him. 

Christopher currently serves as Director of Worship at St. Patrick, White Lake. He previously worked as a Pastoral Associate at St. Regis in Bloomfield Hills. Christopher has also worked for the Archdiocese of Detroit in Young Adult and Campus Ministry, and as a religion teacher at Cabrini High School. He has worked for Catholic Cemeteries, PIME Missionaries, The Henry Ford Museum, and The Michigan Pedaler. 

In his free time, Christopher enjoys musical theater, endurance athletics, traveling by air, sea and land, and taking care of Lucy, his 7-year-old blue heeler. 

Christopher’s favorite Scripture verse is: “Those that hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on eagles’ wings. They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Fun Fact: Christopher manages rental properties and Airbnbs on the eastside of Detroit, and drives for Lyft!
